Galileo : Galileo, the European is expected to be fully operational by 2012. Orolia is
the exclusive atomic clock supplier for the four validation satellites. Each satellite will be equipped with four oven-controlled quartz
oscillators, two passive hydrogen masers and two rubidium clocks.
IRNSS : Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System : The project is expected to be fully deployed in 2012. Orolia
supply atomic clocks.
Compass : Compass (ex Beidou) is
the Chinese satellite navigation system. This project started in 2000 and is due to be operational
in 2010. Compass will number 5 geostationary satellites and 30 satellites in medium orbit. Each satellite will be equipped with Rubidium
clocks.

In addition, space exploration provides significant other opportunities. Space agencies regularly
launch new projects in Geodesy, Radio astronomy or fundamental research. Lately, Orolia worked
on different scientific programs like ACES (Atomic Clock Ensemble in Space) project financed by the ESA Such
projects require extreme stable clocks and entail several millions in funded R&D. |
