Problem We Solve

eCall is a European initiative intended to bring rapid assistance to motorists involved in a collision anywhere in the European Union. eCall was made mandatory in all new cars sold within the European Union as of April 2018.

It is necessary for automotive manufacturers to develop detailed eCall test procedures for the approval of motor vehicles with respect eCall in-vehicle systems. They need to comply with the standard, which includes specific test configurations that can only be built using GNSS simulation.

Why it is Important

It is estimated that eCall helps prevent 2,500 road deaths and save €26 billion a year. To be effective, auto manufacturers and IDS system integrators need to develop methods of reliably and efficiently testing the systems and the possible scenarios that could occur.

How We Solve it

Our GSG 6 GNSS simulator efficiently simulates all the major GNSS constellations needed for testing compliance of critical signal receiving equipment in a variety of eCall scenarios. These are of special interest to vehicle manufacturer or IVS system integrators, and examples include those stated by the European GNSS Agency (GSA).

We provide GSG-62-ES Model + OPT-ECL simulators with a configuration for eCall devices, a testing tool, and dedicated, pre-installed eCall scenarios for GNSS testing (only ANNEX VI of EU 2017/079 regulation) along with 32 channels ready for future purposes.

We also provide further useful options of GLONASS (OPT-GLO for ERA-GLONASS application).

StudioView™

StudioView™ software is normally used to build trajectories and scenarios that will be uploaded and executed on the GSG unit. The StudioView™ software also provides eCall Compliance Testing Tool, based on the EU 2017/079 regulation, featuring:

  • Automatic execution of one or several tests (according to the regulation clauses).
  • Automatic pass/fail reporting after each executed test.
  • Possibility to export reports.

User can manually (locally or remotely) launch individually each scenario to generate RF signals on the GSG output (RF-OUT connector) and can use StudioView™ software to performs all the tests automatically.
