Spectracom PresenTense Network Time Management Software LAN Time Analyzer Program s-e-NTP-lta-01 (30-day Trial Version) Installation Instructions and Summary of Operation: The "LAN Time Analyzer" folder on this CD contains a file called lantimedemo.exe. Open the folder and double-click on this file. Click "Run" to install the selected program on the PC. The Setup Wizard will walk you through the installation process. Once the LAN Time Analyzer program has been installed, you can open this program by selecting "LAN Time Analyzer" from the Start/Programs menu. After opening the program, you will need to configure the desired reference time server against which to compare, the alarm actions and settings, and the names or IP address of one PC on the network to be monitored (The 30-day trial version of the LAN Time Analyzer program will only allow one PC on the network to be monitored). 1) To set the reference time server with which to compare the Windows client, click on Settings/True Time Server and enter the name or IP address of the desired reference. 2) To set the alarm thresholds and the actions that are to occur automatically if the PC exceeds the desired threshold, click on Advanced/Alarm. Note: For any Windows PC to be monitored by this program, it must be running either PresenTense Client or Server software. If you enter the name or IP address of a PC that is not currently running either of these two programs (or if the PC is not currently on the network so it cannot be reached), "No reply" will be displayed in all but the first value box. 3) To automatically select or update the list of the Windows client to be monitored by this program: Click on "Advanced" on the top of the screen and then select "Scan" from the drop-down list. Then, in the"Scan network for clients" menu, enter the desired start and stop IP addresses for the program to look for clients. Press "Scan" and the program will then search for all PCs in the search range that are running either PresenTense Server or PresenTense Client software. Note: if a client PC does not have the PresenTense Client or Server program loaded when the network is scanned,it will not be added to the list of clients to be monitored. Install the client or Server software and then either rescan the network or manually add it to the list using the next step below. 4) To manually enter a new client to the list of PCs to be monitored by this program: Select Client/New from the menu and then enter the name or IP address for each client. The PC will then be added to the list of PCs to be monitored. 5) To manually compare the time of the Windows clients to the "True Time Server" select Client/Fetch Remote Times. THe clients will time synchronized and then compared to the time of the "True Time Server"and the time difference displayed next to each client. If an error exceeds the user-defined value configured in the Alarms settings, an alarm will be generated. The program can also run automatically at the rate selected in Settings/Auto Fetch.
