Based on the proven Skydel SDX simulator, Orolia offers two flexible solutions for testing CRPA: Skydel SDX Wavefront and Skydel SDX Anechoic. SDX-based GNSS simulators tailored for custom projects and R&D needs are also available.

Skydel SDX Wavefront

Wavefront GNSS Simulator

SDX Wavefront combines high performance with SDX Advanced Jammers to enable unlimited test scenarios. It leverages the multi-instance synchronization features of Skydel SDX to enable simulation scenarios including high-dynamics trajectories (GNSS and non-GNSS). Skydel SDX Wavefront generates phase-synchronized signals in real time, enabling to realistically simulate the behaviour of a CRPA antenna.

Skydel SDX Wavefront features:

  • High Performance (Accurate phase synchronization under 1º RMS)
  • 8+ antenna elements
  • Large number of dynamic transmitters + user-defined waveforms (via Advanced Jamming)

Use Skydel SDX Wavefront for:

  • Tests scenarios integrating both dynamic receiver and interferences positions
  • Lab installations where anechoic chamber is not practical
  • Testing CRPA processing unit (without antenna)

Skydel Anechoic

Anechoic Chamber GNSS Simulator

Orolia’s Skydel SDX Anechoic is a complete system featuring the Skydel SDX GNSS simulator, advanced calibration tools and full hardware. Skydel SDX Anechoic is designed to speed up chamber calibration setup and reduce the multiplication of hardware systems.

Based on COTS hardware, it supports 32+ RF outputs to provide a cost-effective CRPA testing solution for RF labs equipped with an anechoic chamber.

Skydel SDX Anechoic configurations feature:

  • Up to 32 RF Outputs
  • Automatic Antenna Mapping
  • Automatic Time Delay Calibration
  • Automatic Power Loss Calibration
  • Support for GPS encrypted codes, via BroadSim Anechoic

About Adaptive Antennas

Adaptive antennas, also called CRPA, or sometimes anti-jam antennas, will play a greater role in the future GPS/GNSS landscape. Their unique capabilities help increase resilience to GNSS signals impairments, such as ever-increasing multipath, accidental interferences, or even RF attacks. Once reserved solely for the military domain, adaptive antennas are entering the civilian market and are poised to bring their benefits to the fields of aerospace, ground transportation, and autonomous driving, as well as various others.

Engineers working with GNSS systems that employ CRPAs and multi-element antennas need special test systems since they need to replicate very specific test conditions that are impossible with live signals. We created SDX Wavefront and SDX Anechoic to address those needs. Like all other SDX configurations, CRPA simulator based on SDX provide COTS hardware benefits: configuration flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
