Testing with a GPS/GNSS simulator is a very effective tool for designing and evaluating countermeasures for mission-critical applications for positioning, navigation and timing. This example demonstrates opening an NI-VISA connection with a the simulator, uploading a file, and starting a scenario. It also demonstrates sending and receiving commands available through the Real-time Scenario Generator.

System Diagrams: Indoor GPS Location These diagrams describe the issues relating to GPS for indoor positioning and navigation. 
  • Typically you'd consider a pseudo-satellite appriach but which require a specially designed receiver
  • A GPS RF simulator could generate signals that a GPS receiver would interpret as a single (pre-programmed) position (or trajectory) which could be useful for "zone positioning"
  • A GPS repeater would do something similar but the GPS receiver would always interpret at the position of the outdoors GPS antenna
