Application Notes: Leap Second Testing Made Easy Spectracom’s GNSS constellation simulators can easily simulate a leap second event such December 31, 2016. A typical test can take as little as 30 to 35 minutes to set up and run. A sample leap second scenario is available for download. This application note provides background on the leap second event and describes leap second testing with the Spectracom simulator. pdf - 93 KB

Presentations and Articles: GPS/GNSS Spoof Testing By Simulation

Hardening GPS/GNSS receivers against spoofing and jamming is crucial as threats are new, real and increasing. Testing with a GPS/GNSS simulator is a very effective tool for designing and evaluating countermeasures for mission-critical applications for positioning, navigation and timing. This presentation describes the application for testing spoofing.

System Diagrams: Indoor GPS Location These diagrams describe the issues relating to GPS for indoor positioning and navigation.
  • Typically you'd consider a pseudo-satellite appriach but which require a specially designed receiver
  • A GPS RF simulator could generate signals that a GPS receiver would interpret as a single (pre-programmed) position (or trajectory) which could be useful for "zone positioning"
  • A GPS repeater would do something similar but the GPS receiver would always interpret at the position of the outdoors GPS antenna
