Safran, formerly Orolia, Launches Aviation ELT Exchange Program for Lithium Battery Compliance

Guidel, France, March 2, 2021 – Safran, formerly Orolia, the world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNTPosition, Navigation, and Timing: PNT and map data combine to create the GPS service.) solutions, has launched an exchange program for aircraft operators to meet new EASA/FAA requirements for non-rechargeable lithium batteries in portable Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs).

Orolia’s Ultima-S portable ELTAn Emergency Location Transmitter is a small device that transmits radio signals to search and rescue teams in case there is a crash or emergency. The signals are used by search and rescue teams to locate the vehicle and rescue the crew. is now available for seamless, rapid integration to increase aviation safety and ensure compliance with EASA/FAA requirements.

This portable ELT exchange program includes a variety of Ultima-S configurations that are compatible with major aircraft manufacturer programs. It is available worldwide to any aircraft operator that is still flying with a DO-227A non-compliant beacon.

About the New Ultima-S
