Technical Notes and Briefs: Programming Interfaces for Automation and Remote Control for GSG Series Simulators One of the benefits of Orolia GSG Series GPS/GNSS simulators is that it does not require any external controller and can operate for 31 days continuously (longer if the unit is connected to the internet). However, there are many situations where remote control from an external program is helpful and required when integrating GPS signals with other test parameters. Technical Notes and Briefs: Sensor Simulation with GPS Testing GPS simulators are able to test the integration of a GPS/GNSS receiver into a nav system by generating signals corresponding to virtually any condition including vehicle dynamics. They can also generate signals for other sensors for a comprehensive system test. As the simulator generates satellite data for a given trajectory, it simultaneously calculates position and attitude data in six degrees of freedom in real-time; forward/backward, left/right and up/down as well as the rotations about three perpendicular axes, pitch, yaw, and roll; which can be queried and used in integrated test systems. pdf - 181 KB

Technical Notes and Briefs: Differences Between NTP and SNTP NTP (Network Time Protocol) and SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol) are very similar TCP/IP protocols in that they use the same time packet from a Time Server message to compute accurate time. The Catawba County (Newton, North Carolina) E911 Communications Center had a problem: The inability to synchronize its systems to determine what time an incident occurred.  They  implemented an Orolia NetClock® GPS system that connected directly to a server. Case Studies: Synchronizing Services With a Public Safety Answering Point Terrebonne Parish (Louisiana) relied on wall clocks to provide less-than accurate time. As a result, CAD reports were depicting fire apparatus arriving prior to the call being received. Police and deputies’ times were equally as skewed.  The Parish decided to purchase an Orolia NetClock solution.  Terrebonne Parish now has the ability for its agency and remote agencies to add numerous items and offices for synchronization, ensuring that all their reports are accurate. pdf - 126 KB

Case Studies: The Importance of Legally Traceable Time® In Criminal Cases The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center, located in Henry County, Virginia, installed an Orolia NetClock® time server
solution.  During an investigation, there was some confusion as to the timeline of a homicide.   The 911 Center was able to testify with certainty about the times that its recorder showed that the 911 calls were placed.
