About This Workshop
The Executive Order on Strengthening National Resilience through Responsible Use of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Services is designed to ensure that the nation’s critical infrastructure, such as the energy, financial and transportation sectors, are resilient to disruptions in GPS or other sources of Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) data.
The EO directs the Department of Commerce (which includes NIST) and other agencies to work with the private sector to identify and promote responsible methods of using PNT services that appropriately manage risks. NIST is now working to provide guidance in the form of a Cybersecurity Framework (CSF)-based profile to help critical infrastructure owners make deliberate, risk-informed decisions on their use of PNT services.
Schedule
September 15th: Workshop
- Update on NIST’s efforts to develop a PNT profile framework
- Panel discussions with industry and federal agencies to discuss their use of systems that form or use PNT data, the impact on operations or services if PNT is disrupted, and federal efforts to improve the resiliency of PNT, particularly across U.S. Critical Infrastructure sectors.
